Sheila’s degree in journalism led to her first job out of college in public relations and sales promotion. While raising her four children and being actively involved in their schools, she developed a passion for equity in education. She served on two school boards and worked as a teacher aide for nine years. Her experience mentoring a first-generation high school student reinforced her desire to work in the field of educational access for all students, and brought her to her current position as College Access Manager at PWFC.

What I Wish I Knew My First Year
“Visit professors during their office hours! I had many large lecture classes, and I did not take advantage of the individual support I could have received by meeting with my professors.”
Favorite Place on Campus
“My favorite place at U of M was Northrop Auditorium; the centerpiece of the campus. It was a beautiful venue to listen to choral and orchestra concerts, enjoy dance performances, or laugh at comedians (Steve Martin!).”
